French Connection Rebound Denim: 3 Ways to Wear The Skinny Jean

Saturday, May 28

There was a time where the only jeans to grace my legs would be skinnies...in all colours and all washes. Then came the mom jean, followed by the boyfriend, the straight leg and more recently, flares. Amongst all of this, my tighter fitting friends became a little lost and overshadowed by their successors. I don't know if this was more of a comfort thing or me simply getting caught up in the trends, but when French Connection asked me to style a pair from their new Rebound Denim collection, I just knew it was time to bring these babies back, with a much needed appearance-refresh.

OUTFIT ONE // MORNING STROLLS

I am wearing

Missguided blazer
Boohoo tee
Pull & Bear necklaces
c/o Wallis bag
c/o Wavvse sunglasses
c/o French Connection jeans
Mango sliders

It doesn't get much simpler than this. But what more do you want from a throw-on-and-go, locate the coffee (or hot chocolate, in my case) and retain ultimate comfort ensemble? Staple jeans, staple tee, staple blazer and some funky, knotted sliders to add a pop of colour and co-ordinate with your shooting location (just kidding ;)). The denim is incredibly soft and stretchy, whilst still maintaining its true qualities and actually resembling its given name, rather than some odd, thin, elasticated legging which, although comfy, just never has that same effect as a decent pair of top quality jeans. Perfect strolling attire.

OUTFIT TWO // AFTERNOON ERRANDS

I am wearing

c/o Superdry jacket
House of Sunny shirt
c/o Fashelle bag
Topshop top (was my nana's!!)
c/o French connection jeans
Mango sunglasses (sold out, identical here)
c/o Public Desire shoes

Layering isn't just for winter weather. I love to combine textures and opting for lighter fabrics is the ideal way to achieve this without sauna-ing yourself into sweat city. Excuse the graphics. Try popping a basic tee or your favourite cami on top of a clean, white shirt to transform the look whilst still keeping cool when running around town, in a frantic mess, between meetings (usually me). It's the more season-appropriate alternative to a typical jumper and shirt combo.

OUTFIT THREE // EVENING OCCASIONS

I am wearing

Topshop jacket
ASOS cami
c/o Ultimate Collections sunglasses
c/o French Connection jeans
c/o Mobs and Monsters choker
LOEIL bag
Mango sandals

How could I not tie in one of spring/summer's biggest trends? I styled the pyjama trend in a full look over here but this time, swapped my trusty cigarette trousers for form fitting denim, for a less tailored, more streamlined approach. The jeans are designed to adapt to any body shape and are perfect for holding natural curves, and smoothing any lumps and bumps which may appear, as they did with me, after too much wagamama (hey food baby!). I actually wore this 'fit to an event and garnered rather a few compliments on my leaner choice of denim. "Wait, what? You have legs??!"

Perhaps time to admit that I'm officially converting back to a skinny lover. It's been so long, I almost forgot how empowered and feminine they make me feel. Don't get me wrong, I love a baggy jean as much as the next person but if there's anything that'll make you feel sexy on a shitty day, it's a beautiful set of underwear and some wonderfully figure-hugging skinnies. You know what they say about conquering the world in the right pair? I think I've found mine.
