Five Things I've Learnt Since Starting Full Time Work And Blogging

Saturday, December 31
I've wanted to write a '5 things ...' style post since forever, but have always felt like they've already been done, or my life hasn't been interesting or 'happening' enough to warrant writing my own. Silly, I know, because obviously no two people have lived the same life, meaning everyone's input will be unique and entirely valid. I guess it just comes down to that whole comparison thing we all do. Adamant that we're never gunna live up to those around or before us. Adamant that we're just not really all that good. (We're wrong, by the way)

Party Wear For The Off-Duty Dresser // Christmas in Miss Selfridge

Tuesday, December 13
At the slight mention of 'party wear', I can guarantee, the first thing that pops into our heads is far from minimal, casual or understated. You see it online and around the shops ~ these curated edits of sequins, glitter and bold colours. But you rarely ever see picks in those categories for the less audacious.

Sometimes I Feel Ungrateful // Oh and THAT Sold Out Shearling Coat

Monday, November 21
There's this endless discussion over bloggers being paid for their 'work'. I put work in inverted commas because, for some reason, to many, blogging still isn't accepted as a genuine, legitimate career that holds enough weight as any other ... but that's a whole different rabbit hole we could fall down and to be quite honest, I think there's many others who have written about it more eloquently than I ever could.

My Laser Hair Removal Journey So Far // Part I

Monday, November 7
Ahhh, hair - that slightly taboo but wholly natural thing that's caused a lot of people continual difficulty, and the rest of them liberation, over the years.

Before I go any further, I'd just like to mention the fact that I'm a total advocate of free-choice and doing whatever the hell makes you feel comfortable. Whether that be appearance, sex, career - you name it. In fact, I openly shout "hell yeah" to those who don't give a sh*t about the 'norms' of society, so please don't feel I'm in any way stating that this is a necessity. Just something I've always considered and when the opportunity made itself apparent to me... I took it *cheeky monkey covering mouth face* (not entirely sure I can get away with that but still rolling with it)

Being Yourself and Why Not To Worry If You Don't Have a Blog Schedule

Saturday, October 15
Want to know when this outfit was actually shot? I can tell you. 30th June 2016, to be precise.

I know what you're thinking ...

"That's over three months ago and you're only now coming to post this on your blog, Liv? How will it still be relevant?"

Okay, so it may not be completely relevant to those in the height of winter, freezing their tits off, but these photos are of me, I'm posting them on my blog; featuring a look that epitomises my personal style; in a shoot location that was pre-considered to match the style of the outfit and imagery, and to be quite honest, I'm really happy with them (am I allowed to say that?). To me, this is relevant. And it always will be relevant, so long as it stays true to who I am.

Transitioning The Tea Dress // A Little Life Update

Thursday, September 29
I haven't done much of a life update in a while and if there was ever a time to do one, it would have to be right about now.

Things in my life, recently, have taken a sudden turn for ... I don't even know. Let's just say things have gotten pretty hectic and I've gone from struggling to find work and freelancing in a 'role' that I found extremely unfulfilling, with zero progression for months, to actually ending up with five opportunities for different legs of work within the space of a few weeks. Some within the space of a day. Isn't it crazy how life works?

Saying Farewell To The Cold Shoulder

Sunday, September 11
Wow, when did summer leave us? It feels like, only yesterday, I was re-familiarising myself with warmer climates, shorter hems and of course, as well as the rest of the blogosphere (and probably world), cold shoulders. Probably because it was literally ten thousand degrees the day before last and I was sat on my deck in a bikini but let's ignore that, alongside next week's weather forecast, and focus on the fact that it's GOD DARN SEPTEMBER already!

*Those* Gucci Princetown Dupes

Tuesday, August 30
I'm gunna admit, I'm not usually one for exact dupes and would much rather purchase a high street, designer equivalent, which has been inspired by, and shares similar characteristics to it's heftier price-tagged opposition, rather than replicated it within an inch of its life.

But things change, people change, feelings change too (as PARTYNEXTDOOR once said) and although I'm not quite there yet on the bag front, recently, I've opened my mind to a whole, new world of shoesie look-a-likes because, quite frankly, everyday designer is just not always feasible ... nor is it necessary.

Friendships in Blogging // The Links of London Friendship Bracelet

Tuesday, August 23
No connection, however strong, can ever truly be materialised, but there's a sense of satisfaction, security and solidarity which come from preserving a bond within something beautiful. Something physical and precious to cherish forever. Something tangible. Cue the friendship bracelet...

I couldn't think of a more perfect way to share this iconic Links of London piece, on my own blog, than to combine the two and talk about those friendships which are perhaps a little less conventional; extremely millennial, yet still, equally as fulfilling as those which take the more traditional route: friendships formed through blogging.

Or just the internet, for that matter. You know, that big, ol' scary place the adults warned us about?

A Festival Outfit Which Doesn't Involve Denim // Boob Job Chat

Saturday, August 13
Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE denim shorts. In fact, I can probably, shamefully admit, I've spent ninety percent of my summer sporting those little, turned up or frayed hem babes in every colour I own. Rain or shine. But that doesn't stop me from thinking there has to be more to festival fashion.

I mean, we've seen Coachella ... so why, still, does the attire always, automatically bee-line straight for the same outfit staple when it comes to dressing for the occasion? I guess I just answered my own question. Staple. Trusty and reliable, with a fit for every person. But this is fashion and I like change (to some, mildly detectable, minuscule extent ;)).

Plus, this maxi dress and maxi PJ shirt (thank you, Zara) were just begging to be paired together ...

*note: fresh or faux flowers will never not be festival perfection, I'm sorry.

All White and Cold Shoulders

Monday, July 25
Last post I condemned spoke about the UK summer and it's lack thereof and well, what else can I say, other than BOY did that come back to bite me. That's the thing with us Brits though, you'll catch us complaining all summer about the lack of sun but when it gets too hot, we're back wishing for winter or even, dare I mention it ... rain. With the heat in mind, I've switched full shade spectrum and turned my hand to my other favourite 'colour' in existence - white.

Smart, Summer Layering in All Black

Thursday, July 14
I think we can all agree that summer in the UK doesn't really amount to summer. This year especially. That probably means, even more so, that I should be experimenting with colour to brighten up my wardrobe a little and compensate for our ever-lacking weather, but somehow, I still always find myself gravitating back to black. You know what they say... *insert inappropriate emoji face here*

I know black can be a tricky option when approaching warmer climates (or at least, pretending to) so I thought it was only right to style up an almost all black ensemble with my brand new shein jumpsuit at the forefront. I have previously worn this on my instagram, more casually, but I figured it was time to give this baby its Liv in Fashion debut and show you its effortlessly versatile ways! (in a somewhat creepy backdrop)

The jumpsuit itself is quite low cut at the sides, which, although may sit well with the lesser self conscious around the chest area, wasn't gunna work out for me. Unless perhaps, with pretty bikini peeping through on hols.

It gave me the perfect opportunity to layer, layer, layer and still manage to show off the beautiful details on this, missy empire bra. PRAISE THE LORD FOR MESH! (though, not that 90's, body con, panelling type because I was far too glad to see that go).
Ok, so I lied a little when I mentioned 'all black' but a shoe this good has just gotta be seen. Reminiscent of Gucci (what isn't nowadays?) and surprisingly more easy to walk in than first imagined, these 4th & Reckless mules have garnered a top spot in my shoedrobe. And on my instagram, judging by the response to the picture... even with my half painted toe nails and shaving-scarred leg.

If a shoe can take the attention away from those, then in my books, it deserves some limelight.

Save When You Share with Shopical // A New Way To Shop Online

Wednesday, July 6
We've all been there - an online basket, brimming full of new clothes that you're about to willingly sacrifice the contents of your bank account for. You get through to the final page and are struck with a pang of guilt once you clock the total, and that little 'promo code?' box is teasing you in your periphery because you and it both know that you didn't come prepared with one. But that doesn't stop you combing the entire web and social media now you've been reminded, in hopes of finding that last shred of discount before committing to that oh-so-persuasive and alluring 'checkout' button and crossing the emotions of feeling wild and free, with terrible regret and sadness for your little plastic card. Well, it doesn't have to be that way...

Part two of our 'oh wait, you're not sixty', 'shouldn't you be in Ibiza?' cruise embarkation lands us in Venice. a.k.a The Floating City, a.k.a the best place for Lindt hot chocolate, a.k.a. don't-wear-a-jacket-that's-longer-than-your-shorts district.

All jokes aside, this was probably one of the most photogenic places I've ever had the pleasure to shoot in.

10/10 would see again.

SS16 Trend: The Evolution of Genderless Dressing

SS16 Trend: The Evolution of Genderless Dressing

Thursday, June 16
First off, I'd like to say that I initially intended to title this post 'How To Dress Like A Boy', followed by some feminine-connotative word such as 'girly' in some form or other (don't hate me, keep reading), before I had an epiphany and realised that that was a fucking stupid, stereotypically-influenced idea and gave myself a slap on the wrist. Lol, life. I literally stopped and said to myself 'hang on, Olivia' -and I never call myself Olivia- 'describe exactly what you think it means to dress like a boy', or, as it was coming from my point of view, what do you consider to be 'dressing like a girl'? And why are you "apparently" not dressing like one in this shoot?

Cruise OOTD Part One: Dubrovnik, Croatia

Last month, my sister and I embarked on yet another, not-as-expected, sibling experience. Now, this one wasn't quite as harrowing as our last trip which you can read all about here (part one and part two) but I will say, we probably won't be repeating it for at least another forty years. In the midst of excitement about sailing the sea for a week, and stopping at all these breathtaking destinations within one holiday (that's like five-in-one, right? And we all love a deal), we'd been blinded by the glamour and forgotten the oh-so-accurate, stereotypical audience of your usual cruise. You all know what I'm talking about. Silver hair. And lots of it.

French Connection Rebound Denim: 3 Ways to Wear The Skinny Jean

French Connection Rebound Denim: 3 Ways to Wear The Skinny Jean

Saturday, May 28

There was a time where the only jeans to grace my legs would be skinnies...in all colours and all washes. Then came the mom jean, followed by the boyfriend, the straight leg and more recently, flares. Amongst all of this, my tighter fitting friends became a little lost and overshadowed by their successors. I don't know if this was more of a comfort thing or me simply getting caught up in the trends, but when French Connection asked me to style a pair from their new Rebound Denim collection, I just knew it was time to bring these babies back, with a much needed appearance-refresh.

Pastel Colours And A Post From The Heart

Pastel Colours And A Post From The Heart

Thursday, May 19
For the last 4 days now, I have been crying consistently, sometimes hysterically and I couldn't even tell you exactly why. For the last 9 days I have been tired, all day, everyday, even when exulting zero physical energy and even on top of 10 hours plus sleep. I've woken up tired, I've gone to sleep tired, my muscles have ached to the point where I can hardly even move them and I don't want to get up. I don't want to get out of bed. I don't want to leave my house and I certainly don't want to 'talk about it' because I don't even know what I'd say.

The reason I'm telling you this is because I realise more and more everyday how quick we all are, me included, to judge people based on what they show us on social media. What they CHOOSE to show us. We think we can make an informed opinion on the levels of somebody's success or happiness or personality, merely through 140 word phrases and a mixture of carefully composed and candid photographs.

Pixi Spring/Summer Make Up // Sponsored

Pixi Spring/Summer Make Up // Sponsored

Tuesday, May 3
With the warmer climates fast approaching (well, in the UK, one can only hope), it's time to start taking into consideration our everyday make up routines and discovering new ways to avoid that 'sweaty, shiny, cake-face' which the sun, so often, likes to provide. It's the season where make up is generally tossed aside, scorned or forgotten (I'm guilty) because, well, heat + heavy products? Nobody got time for that, seriously. Until now maybe...

Pixi are best known for their goddess-worthy skin care, helping women across the world to achieve that natural glow, but did they stop there? Of course they didn't. So, you've nailed your skin care routine, you're looking radiant as ever but sometimes, you're just missing that little extra umph or fancy adding a splash of colour. This is usually me, as my summer wardrobe tends to be lacking in the hue department, so I like to play around with lipsticks and eyeshadows to differentiate a tad between seasons and avoid that "is it still winter, Liv?", satirical wit that gets regularly thrown about. No, I'm pretty sure my make up is currently melting from my face, into a pool at your feet, so you and I both know it's not winter... **eye roll**

Thankfully, Pixi are saving us from any melted, puddle fiascos with lightweight, easy-application and most importantly, good-for-you products. Forget any last minute, BBQ invite stress - we're talking fuss-free fabulousness in mere moments. 0-100 real quick.

Stay tuned to find out your summer must-haves and how I wear them in an exclusive lil' video, just for you!

It's that time of year again, dare I say it... WEDDING SEASON!! To some, this may be an occasion of excitement, euphoria and a damn good reason to throw on your glad rags, get drunker than expected and of course, eat all of the cake. To others...well, let's just call it a shiver-inducing thought which strikes chaos and panic, right from the first mention...

SS16 Trend: Pyjama and Boudoir

Monday, April 18
SS16 has brought with it some of my favourite trends to date. Poplin, silk, satin, lace, frills, cold shoulder - you name it, I'm both mentally and physically invested. I was challenged, as part of an exclusive competition by Farfetch (if you haven't heard of them - be warned. Beautiful designer things EVERYWHERE), to style my own take on one of the four major trends this summer and yep, you guessed it, never one to shy away from mixing style and comfort, I quite obviously chose pyjama.

Denim Trend: Frayed Hem Jeans

Wednesday, April 6
The one thing about denim is that it's never not going to be in fashion. Skinny jeans to mom jeans, patchwork to biker - every season, the catwalks bring us a new way to wear it (which is not necessarily always on our legs) and every season, I become a sucker for what the high street has to offer.

Back-to-Black and Baseball Caps // Why Being A Hoarder Is Sometimes Good

Back-to-Black and Baseball Caps // Why Being A Hoarder Is Sometimes Good

Thursday, March 24
I've never really been a cap lover. It was only up until recently, if I were to opt for the hat option, I'd reach for my trusty fedora to add an extra detail to an otherwise simple outfit, but all-in-all they often tend to get on my nerves and are just another thing to take care of. Being in the UK, as the entire world is most likely aware, it rains A LOT and sometimes you want to do something other than enclose your head in a giant hood, in the most un-stylish, egg-resembling way possible, to keep dry, you know? So, in a temporary moment of absolute madness (this is sarcasm), I put on a baseball cap. My step dad's baseball cap to be precise. I have to admit, when I asked, I didn't expect him to emerge with one quite as 'cool' as this...I was half-picturing some crude, bright red and yellow football team memorabilia. Should have given him more credit for his back-in-the-day style because from then on, it was mine. (Reasons why hoarding is good, example 1: hand-me-downs)

Powder Beauty Drawer // The Beauty 'Box' You Need

Sunday, March 20
The 'beauty box' phenomenon is still as popular as ever, with more offerings appearing on the market every, single day to make your decision (or your boyfriend's decision when he's trying to buy you one as a gift) just that little bit more difficult. Now, I'd like to think I've experienced my fair few (granted, in the grand scheme of things, with the amount of them now out there, I've probably only tested about 10% but let's pretend that's not true) and can wholeheartedly say, I'm a huge fan. I mean, as a girl, or just a general beauty lover, what person wouldn't be over-the-moon to receive a package filled with new products to make themselves look/feel pretty?!! We all love a pamper. Even those guys who are ashamed to admit it...don't worry, we know.

Before I begin on the nitty gritty (and the stuff you actually want to hear), I'm just gunna paint you all a little picture - a 'hair story' if you like, and a flashback to what once was...

Picture a 14 year old, mixed race girl with half-Afro and half-English genes which blended together to create perfect, shiny, corkscrew ringlets all over her head; the kind of curls you only imagined on dolls and that could surely not be created without man-made tools?! That was me.

What I Wore To LFW

What I Wore To LFW

Thursday, March 3
The other week I embarked on my first ever experience of London Fashion Week. A fashion blogger that's never been to fashion week?! I know, I know, it's unheard of. To be honest, I've previously been quite terrified of the idea and shied away from any opportunity to attend; instead swapping it all for the comfort of my own home and a live stream from my laptop (though, who needs live streams now we have snapchat, am I right???). I met up with my bezzo blogger pal Sinead and, although we didn't attend any shows as it was all a bit last minute, we had a right, old laugh in our matching shoesies (see her post featuring them here), popping in and out of hangouts and soaking in the pretty lively, photographer-filled atmosphere around Brewer Street!

Easy Ways To Improve Your Instagram // The Must-Have App

Sunday, February 21
I'm not usually one to blow my own trumpet but bear with me, this is going somewhere and I thought it was about time I shared with you some (not-so-secret) secrets. I get a lot of comments about my Instagram and how 'lovely' my feed is, even more so, I've noticed, over the last few months. Not gunna lie, but receiving comments both on my photos, from strangers, and in real life from those with whom I'm more familiar, about how much they're liking my content, is a massive achievement for me and only inspires me to create more and do better to produce work I'm truly proud of. It's something I feel I am currently, finally doing because I've (almost!) fully discovered my niche and the exact content which I believe firmly reflects myself as a person.

'Not Lit'aly Part Two: Florence

Wednesday, February 17
So we're back and onto a very delayed part two of my sister and I's trip to Italy. This time I'm sharing with you our experience of Florence, which I surprisingly warmed to (excuse the pun whilst it supplied us with, what felt like, sub-zero temperatures) more than Rome, despite the bout of food poisoning filling up our ONLY full day there to explore and rendering us bed-bound for a large portion of the day. Welcome to anecdote number one of 'what went wrong in Italy'. You're gunna want to keep reading...

'Not Lit'aly Part One: Rome

Wednesday, February 3
Now, as you've probably gathered from my amazingly current, punned title - this may not be what you're expecting from the 'usual' type of travel post. In mid-Jan, my sister and I embarked on an interesting city break to Rome and Florence (part 2 impending!) to prematurely celebrate her 25th. If you've never been to Rome, you've sure as hell heard of it and could probably tell me the entire history behind each and every landmark I've very touristically photographed below! Being my first time in Italy, let alone in one of the most visited cities in the world, you can imagine I set off with high hopes.

Shearling Accents and the Ultimate OTKs

Shearling Accents and the Ultimate OTKs

Tuesday, January 26
This winter, we all seem to have had a long, lasting love affair with shearling. Previously only associated with UGG boots and Levi jackets, it would seem, this year especially, it has had an ultra modern revamp. I, for one, was definitely an embracer of the trend in all of its shapes and forms and I just could not resist another two, unique pieces.
Photography by @luzynsky

I am wearing
c/o Zaful boots // ASOS coat // ASOS bum bag // Mango sunglasses (similar here and here)

Call it overboard, you may but there was something about this coat and its mix of colours and textures that kept drawing me back, no matter how many times I let it expire out of my basket and left the 'out of stock' fates to decide my future. The truth is, my size did eventually disappear but only a little later, on my daily weekly return to ASOS did I discover an 8, reinstated and discounted by about £40. Naturally, I hallelujahed and then never looked back....though I did also manage to sneak in a cheeky, half price bum bag for my trip to Italy (post impending)...and because it's simply just the cutest thing ever. Just in case I didn't own enough shearling already, you know?

These Zaful boots have been my saviours and one of my most favourite pieces to ever receive. I struggled with searching for a pair of flat, over the knee boots that didn't look 'dowdy' or a little out of my age range but these couldn't have been more perfect. Leather look, pointed toe, FUR LINED and fitting to my skinny calves, what more could a girl want? The only issue has been trying to find an outfit I don't want to wear them with! I would say, if you're purchasing, to go up a size. I chose a 5 (I'm usually a small 5) and they're not too restrictive but I think a 6 would have provided maximum comfort.

Paired with the usual wardrobe staples - a black roll neck and some biker jeans, I was ready to face the day...with ultimate ease and of course, a whole load of shearling!
